Pre-Teens & Drinking

We all see those 12 year olds posting statuses about drinking, or just uploading pictures of themselves holding a bottle of vodka.

It's just so unreasonable. I'm sure most of them drink out of desperation to fit in. To join the 'Cool Crowd'. This relates to my previous blog about kids wanting to fit in, and I just thought it was a big enough issue for people to relate to. I mean, do you really want your younger brother/sister to be surrounded by such an environment? The whole peer pressure thing to drink and whatnot?

Don't these kids understand that they have their whole life ahead of them? Also, what's so fun about doing something out of desperation? To be fair, you can't really  blame them. At the end of the day, that's all movies/tv shows talk about. Kids get curious, and then think it makes them look good. So, they start drinking, thinking it helps them get popular; therefore, drinking becomes a habit and then they get bored. So now, they're looking for something new and exciting; they stumble across weed. I'd like to think most of them wouldn't bother trying it, but I'm guessing that the majority would at least give it a shot,  because it would make them cooler, right?

They should understand that it's bad for them. They're old enough to understand what 'good' and 'bad' means, and I'm sure their parents consistently tell them to stay away from drugs and alcohol. Now, I can't really say that I always listen to my parents. Nobody follows everything their parents say; but, this is a big issue, it isn't about coming home way past your curfew or dating someone your parents dislike.

Thanks to a friend of mine who thought I could inspire people to stay away from drinking and whatnot.
